Everton Close on Sigurdsson

Everton Close on Sigurdsson

Sigurdsson has not played since Swansea's opening pre-season game against Barnet on July 12, after which he missed the club's tour to the United States as he was "not feeling in the right frame of mind".

John Hartson believes Gylfi Sigurdsson will leave Swansea City before the transfer window closes, despite his proposed move dragging on.

With Davy Klaassen and Wayne Rooney signed by Everton this summer, it remains to be seen what the make-up of Koeman's side in attacking midfield areas will be should Sigurdsson arrive.

Earlier this month, Swansea manager Paul Clement confirmed that his club were holding talks with another side about the possible sale of Sigurdsson.

The Iceland worldwide was omitted from his side's final pre-season friendly with Sampdoria on Saturday as he sought to resolve his Liberty Stadium future.

"[There is] no further news from when I spoke to the media on Wednesday".

"From my point of view I'm committed to the players that want to be here, want to work and that want to improve".

"I don't have an update today [Thursday], because I did not speak to anybody", Koeman told the Liverpool Echo.

Asked about a return for Wilfried Bony, Clement said: "I have seen that name linked, but until we get the current situation organised, then nothing's going to happen".

The 30-year-old France global had to make do with a peripheral role in north London last season and his chances of game-time have decreased further after Arsenal signed his compatriot Alexandre Lacazette for a club-record fee.
