Baron Corbin fails during Money in the Bank briefcase cash

Corbin interfered in the John Cena versus Jinder Mahal match on Smackdown, hitting Cena with his briefcase twice before leaving the ring. Fightful will have full Live Coverage.

- The show opened with Jinder Mahal celebrating Indian Independence Day with singing and dancing.

Just three weeks ago, Chris Jericho made a shocking return to the ring, and the following Tuesday, Cena and Shinsuke Nakamura closed SmackDown with a first-time encounter worthy of a higher-profile event. Natalya won by submission with a Sharpshooter.

Smackdown commissioner Shane McMahon was kicked in the face for the second time in a fortnight.

Natalya looks to stay warm heading into her title match at SummerSlam as she takes on the Lass Kicker Becky Lynch.

Randy Orton and Rusev have a date at the biggest party of the summer but the mind games must turn into fight strategy for the Apex Predator as he is facing a Bulgarian Brute who would rather engage in a physical altercation rather than plan his offense.

But the highlight of Smackdown was Baron Corbin cashing in his Money in the Bank contract and failing to win the WWE Championship. But after a moment of distraction when Corbin went after Cena near the ropes, Mahal regrouped and rolled up Corbin to retain the title and end any aspirations Corbin had of winning the WWE Championship, at least in the near future.
