Arsenal receive £25m attacker offer from bitter rivals as contract worries continue

It is understood that Arsenal have backed themselves into a corner due to Oxlade-Chamberlain's contract at the Emirates, which expires next summer.

The England worldwide has entered the final 12 months of his current Arsenal deal to prompt speculation about his long-term future.

The English midfielder is in the final year of his current contract, and has been attracting interest from Chelsea and Liverpool, but The Daily Star believes that he is ready to commit his future to the club, should Arsenal accept his wage demands.

And now the Daily Mail claim the Premier League champions have stepped up their in Oxlade-Chamberlain, launching an opening bid of £25m.

Chelsea have tabled a bid worth £25million for Arsenal attacker Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to a report.

The only stumbling block on his contract renewal at Arsenal has been Wenger's insistence on assuring the 23-year-old a place in midfield.

Conte sees Oxlade-Chamberlain as having the potential to operate from the wing-back position, a key part of the system he brought in at Stamford Bridge last season.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal's first game of the new season against Leicester City, Wenger said of Oxlade-Chamberlain: 'I think in his career he had some bad moments because he had some small injuries.

'Personally, I think he is a hugely talented player.

Well, that about settles it as far as Arsene Wenger is concerned.
