Amy Schumer To Make Broadway Debut - In A Steve Martin Play

Comedian Amy Schumer is planning to make her Broadway debut in a Steve Martin play.

A description of the play on its website reads: "It's a hot night in Ojai, California, and Corky (Amy Schumer) and her husband Norm (Alan Tudyk) are having another couple over for dinner".

Amy Schumer will be among the cast members of the Broadway-run of Steve Martin's new play, Meteor Shower, ensuring that, like Hamilton, there's no way in hell I will ever get tickets to see it.

Joining Ms. Schumer in the cast will be Laura Benanti (a Tony victor for "Gypsy"), Keegan-Michael Key (now performing in "Hamlet" at the Public Theater) and Alan Tudyk ("Firefly").

The show will also mark Keegan-Michael Key's first time on the Great White Way.

The Trainwreck actress wrote: '#SteveMartin wrote a hilarious play @MeteorShowerBwy and I get to do it with @keeganmic @laurabenanti @alantudyk'.

Under the esteemed direction of Jerry Zaks, who was most recently at the helm of the "Hello, Dolly!" revival, "Meteor Shower" will bow on Broadway at the Booth Theater, with previews beginning November 1 and an opening night set for November 29.

The play had productions previous year at the Old Globe Theater in San Diego and at Long Wharf Theater in New Haven. For Amy, the casting announcement comes after she dropped out of starring in the live-action "Barbie" movie earlier this year due to "scheduling conflicts".

Meteor Shower begins previews on November 1, and will open on November 29. Martin was last represented on Broadway with his bluegrass-driven musical "Bright Star".

Amy plays Renee Barrett In I Feel Pretty, a woman whose head injury leads her to believe a spell was cast on her to make her look incredibly attractive.
