Violence after domestic help beaten up in Noida

Noida: A day after the riot-like situation at Noida's Mahagun Moderne society, on Thursday, residents of several other societies along with Mahagun have decided not to employ Bangladeshi women as maids anymore. "All her allegations are false", said another resident Puneet Kumar. "But unlike other days, she didn't come home for lunch".

The owner of an apartment in the society, Harshita Sethi, had on Tuesday night accused Zora of stealing cash, police had said.

According to a report on NDTV, the husband of the 26-year-old woman, Zohra Bibi, has filed a First Information Report (FIR) with the Noida police against the employers, a couple who live in the apartment with their seven-year-old daughter. "She kept saying that I had stolen money from her, and threatened me that she will lock me inside the house and will not allow me to leave till the amount is recovered", she said. She was allegedly found in the boot of her employer's auto, an allegation that has been rubbished by the police."In most cases, in which a maid is beaten up by an employer, she also becomes a victim of suspicion and is accused of theft".

Zohra and her husband both are from Cooch Behar in Bengal and have been living in Noida for over a decade, confirmed the police while dismissing the report that she was an illegal Bangladeshi migrant. Another resident said that the maid was handed over to the police and this is what enraged them. On Wednesday morning, a few people went with me to the society and asked where my wife was.

According to Harshu Sethi, when she confronted Zohra for stealing the money, the latter got scared and fled from the house. The decision was taken by the residents of the society since it doesn't have a residents' welfare association (RWA), according to a report by Hindustan Times. The matter was then reported to facility management of the society by Sethi. It was terrifying. It's about our life and I am afraid about the safety of my family and kid.I believe if searched on cctv it can be found how, when and where this maid went out of Mahagun.
