Royals' Mike Moustakas selected to second All-Star Game in fan vote

Royals' Mike Moustakas selected to second All-Star Game in fan vote

It's okay to go back on Twitter now, as the Final Vote chaos has finally (and thankfully) ended.

It's the 16 year that the Final Vote campaign has been a part of the All-Star voting, with over 680 million votes cast throughout its history.

Self, who has more than 220,000 followers but just 261 Tweets to his name - including a whopping nine so far this year - wrote simply, "Let's get another Royal into the All Star Game". In fact, you could have made an argument for any of them as worthy of All-Star recognition.

Turner beat out Kris Bryant, Anthony Rendon, Mark Reynolds, and Justin Bour in the NL, while Bour beat out Elvis Andrus, Xander Bogaerts, Didi Gregorius, and Logan Morrison in the AL. This season, Moustakas is hitting.275/.309/.570 with 25 home runs, 54 runs scored, and 44 runs in 320 PA.

Moustakas' All-Star festivities will actually begin Monday as he will participate in the home run derby.

Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner is an All-Star. Given that he's a free agent at the end of the season, there's a chance this could be Moose's last opportunity to represent the Royals on a big stage.

Obviously it's easy for me to defend Royals fans since I myself am one, but I'd be saying the same thing if I didn't root for the team.

Turner is batting.384 with eight homers this season.

Pitchers who start their team's final game before the All-Star break aren't eligible to compete in the Midsummer Classic.
