Novak Djokovic gains confidence from run to Eastbourne final

Here, Charlie Eccleshare looks at why Murray has found so much success at SW19 with the help of Annabel Croft, Richard Gasquet and three-time Wimbledon victor Novak Djokovic.

The former world number one held all four Grand Slam titles going into last year's Championships, but now holds none.

"It comes in the right moment, because I need to build that kind of level of confidence and the matches won obviously help that".

Karolina Pliskova gave herself the flawless pre-Wimbledon tonic by lifting the women's title, defeating Caroline Wozniacki 6-4, 6-4 in impressive style.

In the women's tournament, Caroline Wozniacki played through an abdominal injury to beat Heather Watson 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 and advance to a final against Karolina Pliskova, who got a walkover after Johanna Konta pulled out of their semifinal match because of a spine injury.

Fourth seed and title-holder Steve Johnson finished off his contest with Italian qualifier Thomas Fabbiano, advancing 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.

In the second, he saved three break points, and broke Monfils to cap the final and improve to 14-0 against the Frenchman on the tour. Definitely I will try to come back every year. I was also in final. "I had trouble getting the serves back", she said, "but its great preparation before Wimbledon". "It's great. You know, the crowd is always unbelievable and coming out and supporting, and I feel like it's the same faces you see year in and year out".

Pliskova earned her ninth career title by breaking Wozniacki once in each set.

"Mario's my very good friend", said Djokovic.

"I didn't sleep too well but I heard that's normal".
