Mum arrested 'trying to show kids good time'

Police arrested Alana Donohue Wednesday evening after saying she pulled three children, all between the ages of 2 and 8, behind her vehicle in a small plastic wagon.

Police were stunned when they were sent photographic evidence of the woman's white Ford Taurus dragging the vulnerable kids around a roundabout on Wednesday evening.

Police had been called to the scene by several witnesses, who saw the auto circling a roundabout with the kids being pulled behind.

According to The Register Guard, 27-year-old Alana Nicole Donahue was arrested less than an hour after Springfield police received calls from concerned drivers.

The wagon, drivers told police, had two children in it.

They also say the children and the wagon were nearly hit when the auto pulled into a nearby store.

According to The Oregonian, Donahue then stopped and placed the 2-year-old in the auto, but continued to drive with the other children in the wagon.

The Register-Guard reports the mum-of-two from the town of Springfield is accused of endangering the kids, aged three and five.

When police confronted Donohue, they said she claimed she didn't know why everyone was making such a big deal and that she was trying to show the children a good time.

The Department of Human Services reportedly placed the two children in the care of another unnamed person.

Lieutenant Scott McKee confirmed that Donohue is the mother of the two younger children and the older boy is her nephew.

Donahue was charged with reckless endangerment.
