Leicester set to make move for £12.5-rated Sevilla star

The statement read: "Sevilla and Leicester City have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Vicente Iborra".

Sevilla on Tuesday announced that it has reached an agreement with Leicester City for the transfer of midfielder Vicente Iborra to the English side.

The young Englishman joined from relegated Hull City in a £17 million deal. The Spaniard was a popular figure among the Sevilla fans and the club have confirmed that he will return to the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium once the transfer is complete to publicly bid farewell to the fans.

"If everything turns out as expected, Vicente Iborra will leave Nervión after four seasons full of compromise and will, bearing the armband as the first captain in his last season".

'Iborra has always shown an exemplary behavior and has earned the unanimous love and respect of all Sevillians'.

But the move to Wearside collapsed in the final days of the summer window and now the midfielder will fly to Leicester tomorrow for a medical and sign a four-year contract. He is likely to compete with Nampalys Mendy for playing time alongside Wilfried Ndidi and Danny Drinkwater.

Leicester fans, will Iborra be a good addition to the midfield?

That said, with Sevilla appointing Eduardo Berizzo as their new manager perhaps Iborra isn't in his plans and whatever way you slice it up, this seems like a massive coup for Leicester.

"Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare is believed to have been impressed by the 6ft3" midfielder during the club's Champions League Round of 16 encounters last season.
