Hot, humid and some storms — ACCUWEATHER ALERT

In addition to the heat warning for western sections of New Jersey, which remains active through 8 p.m. Thursday, heat advisories have been issued in Hudson County and eastern sections of Bergen, Essex and Union counties.

It said there is a slight chance of thunderstorms across the San Gabriel Mountains and the Antelope Valley, "which will enhance the fire weather threat over these areas". After the cold front rolls through tomorrow night, it'll be much more comfortable for the weekend with temperatures in the upper 80's and low 90's with low humidity!

Temperatures will linger in the mid- and low-90s through at least the middle of next week. It will be slightly breezy again today with southwest winds at 5 to 15 miles per hour.

It will be hot with highs in the mid 90s again on Friday. With the humidity, heat index values will top out between 105 and 110.

Heat and humidity will be running high through the weekend. Temperatures will fall into the low 80s and upper 70s tonight with partly cloudy skies. Don't leave any living thing (kids, pets, etc.) in a auto for even a minute, as interior temperatures will soar to 140 degrees during the heat of the day. On Friday, the temperature may sprint up to near 95, with a heat index near 100, before showers and thunderstorms cool us down in the afternoon and evening.

Upper level-ridging will blossom over the western US through the weekend, amplifying an upper trough over the Great Lakes. An upper ridge will remain in place over the southeast US bringing a southerly flow and in turn more moisture into Alabama. Highs in the mid 90s.
