Dileep's arrest: The aftermath in his family

The police custody of the 48-year-old will end on Friday when the judicial magistrate court in Angamaly is scheduled to hear his petition for bail.

Dileep was arrested over the alleged abduction and molestation of a popular Malayalam actress.

The actress's Facebook page was flooded with abusive messages and negative comments soon after the news regarding Dileep's arrested was aired by different news channels.

The probe team sought details of Dileep, his former wife Manju Warrier and the actress involved in the case.

Meanwhile, the police today completed the evidence gathering procedures in the case. She had issued a statement on June 26, and then also she had hit out at the actor, who has been arrested two days back, for criticising her in "not being careful in selecting friends".

The incident took place when the men stopped and hijacked her auto near Athani in Angamaly.

In February this year, the actress was kidnapped and molested in a moving vehicle for nearly one hour. The accused men got down at Palarivattom and fled in another vehicle. She was released after three hours and the men threatened to release the video of the incident if she approached the police. After a few days, police arrested one of the prime accused, Pulsar Soni.

The actor's lawyer challenged this argument in the court saying, "Dileep is a superstar and many come to meet him during his film shoots". In the remand report, police had claimed that though Dileep had declared that he did not know Suni, he had met him at Hotel Abad Plaza in Kochi between March and April 2013.

Officials probing the case intend to take Dileep to various locations in Thrissur and Kochi where they suspect that the plan to abduct and attack the actress was hatched over weeks.

On Tuesday, Dileep's name was struck off the rolls of the membership of the Association of Malayalam Movies Artistes (Amma), of which he was treasurer.
