Clint Frazier's walk-off HR lifts Yankees over Brewers

The Yankees positively were befuddled for much of the afternoon by unheralded Milwaukee lefty Brent Suter, a Harvard graduate with a degree in environmental science and public policy, but a pitcher with a fastball that doesn't reach 90 miles per hour.

Clint Frazier's walk-off three-run homer off Brewers closer Corey Knebel lifted the Yankees to a 5-3 victory Saturday in front of 40,224 at the Stadium.

Almost a year after he was acquired from the Cleveland organization in last season's Andrew Miller deadline deal, and barely a week after he was summoned from Triple-A Scranton to help stem the rash of injuries suddenly compromising a strong first-half run, the 22-year-old Frazier officially has joined the party, as well as the ongoing Baby Bombers youth movement.

Walks to Didi Gregorius and Jacoby Ellsbury around a Chase Headley whiff brought up Frazier, who claimed to have made an adjustment with hitting coaches Alan Cockrell and Marcus Thames on Friday to keep his weight on his back leg before swinging.

Yesterday the Bombers snatched a victory from the jaws of defeat after rookie sensation Clint Frazier hit a walk-off moonshot to left field. The Yankees are bound for exciting times with so many talented, young hitters producing at a high level.

"I feel really comfortable now", Frazier said.

He is 6-2 with a 2.39 ERA in his last 12 starts after allowing an unearned run and six hits in seven innings during a 6-2 win over Baltimore Tuesday.

"Every win's huge", Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge said.

"The hair is all right", Frazier said.

Teheran (7-6) gave up four hits while walking two and striking out five to improve to 6-0 in nine road starts this season.

Chacin (8-7) allowed one run and three hits with six strikeouts and two walks.

Dellin Betances and Aroldis Chapman each pitched one scoreless inning out of the bullpen.

Cobb held Boston to two hits in 7 2/3 innings as Xander Bogaerts had an infield single in the first inning and Mookie Betts had a single up the middle in the third.

CLEVELAND - Three pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout as Cleveland beat Detroit.

The Milwaukee Brewers have one more game before the All-Star break.

DeJong notched his first career four-hit game with three doubles to go along with the homer.

Luis Severino started the game and went seven innings and struck out 10 batters.

NY chased Suter with a trio of hard-hit balls in the seventh. Suter then threw wildly to first on a pickoff attempt, allowing Headley to score and Ellsbury to race to third. Carlos Asuaje laced a two-out double off the wall in right-center field to tie the game at 1-1. I don't think I executed pitches well that inning. Girardi eventually challenged, but video officials did not overturn the call. Montgomery has become a dependable member of the big league rotation, but pitched Friday and won't be needed again for at least a week because of the All-Star break. Andrew Miller pitched two innings and retired all six batters he faced, and Cody Allen worked the ninth.

TRAINER'S ROOM: Brewers OF Ryan Braun left the game in the eighth inning due to cramping. Both players must remain in the minors for 10 days, unless the Yankees add a player to the disabled list. Yankees OF Matt Holliday (viral infection) was expected to make his first rehab appearance with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday night.
