Trump's legal team to file complaint on Comey

While testifying before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday, Comey, in his opening statement, said the president had privately told him in the Oval Office, "I hope you can see your way clear to let this go, to letting Flynn go".

Comey on Thursday told the Senate Intelligence Committee that he was sacked by Trump in May over his handling of alleged Russian meddling in the USA election and possible ties between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin. Trump also said that he is willing to give his version of events described by Comey under oath.

Trump, in his first press conference since Comey's congressional testimony on Thursday, also reiterated that he felt vindicated by what was said.

NPR cites two sources who said Mueller was on President Donald Trump's shortlist of potential Federal Bureau of Investigation directors after he fired Comey last month. "But I did not say that". Trump said there was no collusion and no obstruction and then called Comey a "leaker".

At a press conference on Friday afternoon in the Rose Garden with the visiting president of Romania, Mr Trump rejected Mr Comey's claims.

Senators questioned him on everything from the New York Times' bombshell report in February to the meaning of the word "hope". "Yesterday showed no collusion, no obstruction".

THE FACTS: Trump's claim of vindication from Comey's testimony is groundless.

Trump said Comey's testimony also vindicated him from allegations that he colluded with Russian Federation to meddle with the '16 U.S. presidential poll.

"I would be glad to tell him exactly what I just told you", Trump said.

Trump said Friday that he was "very, very happy" with Comey's testimony. Trump also said he would "100 percent" meet with Special Counsel Robert Mueller-who is overseeing the Russian Federation investigation-and tell him the same thing under oath.

"There would be nothing wrong if I did say that, according to everybody that I've read today", he added.

"And did he ask for a pledge of loyalty from you? But I did not say that", Trump said. He also said he didn't ask Comey to drop an investigation of Flynn. "And some of the things that he said just weren't true".

"You're going to be very disappointed when you hear the answer, don't worry", Trump said seconds after insisting he was "not hinting at anything".

Trump stands alone in that assertion; all US intelligence agencies, Comey, and even many Republicans, agree Russians did meddle in the election.

Iohannis spoke of Trump's remarks last month about some members of North Atlantic Treaty Organisation not spending enough of defense, saying he liked the USA president's speech on the matter.
