Poonch: Civilian injured in ceasefire violation by Pak

Pakistan had claimed to have killed five Indian soldiers while retaliating to India's "unprovoked" ceasefire violation in Tatta Pani sector along the line of control.

According to news agency ANI, Pakistan later violated ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir's Krishna Ghati sector on Saturday.

The Army destroyed Pakistani posts opposite Naushera sector in a bid to take the war to the enemy zone which had been sitting pretty on the border without bothering to get protection from firing from the Indian side. The Indian Army has also foiled infiltration bids in the past few months.

Some officials on both sides suggested that five Pakistani soldiers were killed in the firing, but neither country confirmed the alleged deaths of soldiers.

This is the third instance of ceasefire violation by Pakistan in last one week.

Army spokesperson, Colonel Rajesh Kalia, said soldiers and special forces police surrounded a home in northern Nathipora village, where they engaged in gunfire with separatists hiding inside.

The reports said there has been firing along the LoC in Balnoi and Mankote sectors too. The assault had claimed the life of a GREF labourer, while two BSF jawans were wounded.

The Pakistan Army had shelled forward areas and civilian belts along the LoC in Rajouri district on May 15 and 16.

The Pakistani army released a counter video showing Indian bunkers being razed in the Pakistani shelling. Two people were killed and three injured in Pakistani shelling in Nowshera sector on May 13.

"These civilians were sleeping in their houses, one of the dead was a 65-year old", Mumtaz said, adding that four women were among those injured.

The statements by the two top Ministers come at a time when Pakistan accused India of heightening tensions at the LoC.
