North Korea calls for execution of former South Korea President and aide

On Wednesday Moon said his government would work to eliminate unfair trade practices.

China is pushing the United States to start negotiations with the North.

"All this North Korea stuff has been debated and South Korea hasn't really been part of the conversation as far as Donald Trump is concerned".

If the Trump administration had termed the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to America in April historic, the expectation that China will exert its influence to rein in North Korea was one of the major factors apart from some trade deals signed that Trump said would help American businesses and would create jobs.

Kim, the estranged half-brother of North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un, was fatally poisoned at Kuala Lumpur airport, in an incident involving a number of North Koreans according to Malaysian police.

Last week, Moon's special security adviser, Moon Chung In, claimed Seoul and Washington may consider reducing their joint military drills should the North freeze its nuclear activities. He also strengthened his personal security force, the agency said.

Moon Chung In's remarks sparked concerns that Seoul's new liberal government may be considering making such an offer to Pyongyang despite the North's continued nuclear and missile provocations.

Speaking to media on his way to a high-profile summit between South Korea and the USA, the President said: "there is no change in that position yet".

"I think the trade is well balanced between the two countries through the deal struck during the Roh administration, and a subsequent revision based on a renegotiation", Moon said. On Pyongyang's nuclear ambitions - President Moon advocates engagement. A White House official told reporters that Trump would raise concerns about barriers to U.S. auto sales and "the enormous amount of steel that sometimes ends up being surplus Chinese steel that comes to the United States via South Korea". But it makes no sense to talk about dialogue with unjust preconditions attached, and when they are applying maximum pressure'.

The North's official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said on Thursday "revelation showed" Park had masterminded a plot to execute its "supreme leadership" - North Korean leader Kim Jong-un - in 2015 and it was imposing the "death penalty on traitor Park Geun-hye" and her spy chief Lee Byung-ho.

"We declare at home and overseas that we will impose the death penalty on traitor Park Geun-hye", said the statement, which was released as "the enemies' moves to stifle the DPRK at any cost have reached an extremely grave phase". THAAD is a USA designed system capable of shooting down short and medium range missiles, the type that North Korea could launch at its neighbor.

The statement also said that Park had pushed forward the "operation to replace the supreme leadership of the north" in secrecy since the end of 2015 and the "assassination" plot was included in the secret operational plan that was spearheaded by the NIS.
