Munich police officer seriously injured in metro station shooting

According to the police, the situation was under control and the area was cordoned off.

A Munich police spokesman told reporters there was no indication of a "political or religious" motive behind the morning rush hour incident.

At least one person has been injured in a shooting at a subway station in a suburb of Munich, German police said today.

The attack also comes a week after the London Bridge terror attack, where a trio of ISIS terrorists killed eight and injured dozens others.

There have been no reported fatalities, but the injured police officer is in a "life-threatening" condition. Officers got involved in the scuffle and an attacker attempted to push one member of the police from the platform onto the railway tracks. "There are no indications of further perpetrators".

The 26-year-old officer is believed to have fired her own pistol before she was hit, apparently hitting the suspect in the buttocks.

The suspect then managed to grab the female officer's gun and fired several shots before he was shot himself and taken into custody.
