Melchiot: De Boer will be good for Crystal Palace kids

Tete, whose father Miguel is a former European heavyweight kickboxing champion, would obviously be influenced by Frank de Boer being appointed Palace's new manager.

That is according to the Telegraph, who state that the Dutchman will have to be pragmatic in the transfer market with funds tight after predecessor Sam Allardyce elected to splash the cash in January to prevent the Eagles from falling out of the Premier League last season. "This is a club that can still go further and further".

On the new deal with Crystal Palace, a ManBetX spokesman said: "It's a hugely exciting time to partner with a high profile Premier League team like Crystal Palace FC".

The 47-year-old has spent much of his football life with the legendary Ajax, making over 300 appearances as a player and then coaching them for almost a decade, first with the youth set-up and then the senior team.

Under the terms of the deal, which sources at the club believe to be the eighth biggest in the Premier League, ManBetX branding will appear on the club's home and away shirts and across its media channels both in the United Kingdom and internationally.

The former Ajax coach was confirmed Palace manager yesterday. I know a lot about the team, but it is different when a new manager comes in. [At Ajax] it's also in our DNA to try and play technical football and dominate. "I have to see the players first, but I have my ideas, maybe one or two signings". But we want to dominate with and without the ball.

If Tete arrives in England's capital as de Boer's first signing as Palace boss, he will have to vie with the likes of Joel Ward for a place in the Dutch legend's starting lineup.

"It takes time but we have very talented players and they would normally be quick learners", he said.
