Man kills children, hangs self on Father's Day after custody dispute

She notified the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Sunday night and sheriff's deputies found the bodies in the Slater Street home and notified Santa Rosa police around 9:50 a.m. today, Cregan said.

A California man is accused of murdering his young daughter and baby son and then hanging himself on Father's Day.

The wife had dropped the kids off with the man for Father's Day and was set to return them Sunday evening.

When authorities showed up at Camara's house Monday morning, they found Camara and his two children dead inside. A fifth man, who had previously been off-camera, joined them, and they left.'We never have any issues like this, except for whenever the schools let out and then you get these people that come and want to break in and take things that don't belong to them, ' the victim said. The Clay County Sheriff's Office said these kinds of crimes are on the rise in Oakleaf. Police have not said how the children died, only that there was no obvious sign of struggle.

Neighbors tell KRON that Camara had only lived there for a few months, but the arguments between him and his wife were intense on several occasions.

Before the murder-suicide, Sonoma County Sheriff's Deputies were investigating a child custody violation, involving a dispute between a husband and wife about their two children.

'I'm not quite sure what was going through his mind, ' said Camara's sister, Jessica Espada to KTVU who arrived at the scene.

Police believe a 40-year-old father in Santa Rosa, Calif., killed his two young children before taking his own life on Father's Day.

"A attractive little girl and a sweet little boy", said Julia Poncia. "He was always playing with them, riding his bike out here with them", Carrie Buchholz said. The coroner identified the 6-year-old girl as Juliana, and 19-month-old boy as Julian.

Firefighters found her body near a bathroom in the back of the residence.

Another neighbor said Camara had seemed nervous over the weekend.

Santa Rosa Police Department Lt. John Cregan said: "We're still going to be exploring the timeline to determine when the children were last seen and when this tragedy occurred".
