Curry, Durant committed to keeping Golden State on top

KD scored 39 points and Steph Curry added 34 to slam the door shut on any chance of last year's history repeating itself by scoring a 129-120 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night to win their second championship in the past two years.

They made their group plea to Kevin Durant last summer, Stephen Curry and the core of the Golden State Warriors traveling cross-country to go at a prized free agent the only way they do it around here: with "Strength in Numbers". Their one title came past year when the Cavs became the first National Basketball Association team to rally from a 3-1 Finals deficit to deliver the city its first major championship since 1964.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr sees Durant as that missing piece to turning a formidable club into a historic juggernaut. "I'm so happy Kevin has broken through and there's more to come from him".

Either way, Cavaliers fans are going to be a mess after this game. "I think we'll do it again next year".

"We've overcome a lot of doubts", said Tulio Zelada, 28, a San Francisco resident who attended the parade.

Following the Game 5 loss, where he converted 19 of his 30 attempts from the field en route to a game-high 41 points and added 13 rebounds, eight assists, two steals and one blocked shot over 46 minutes of play, James called Golden State "a worthy opponent", one loaded with talented players under the age of 30.

Durant and Curry were always right in the middle, yet they stayed loose and focused by building their own relationship - not to mention shooting skills - through regular shooting contests that were oh so close. We're going to do everything we can to keep this team together. To be back here, bring ol' Larry back home, I'm just excited to do something special.

“I do know me and KD had a conversation along with Draymond and Klay and Andre a year ago before he even showed up that that was kind of the identity of who we are as a team that we understand how important it is, the guys that are here, ” Curry said.

Your nightly LeBron James #NBAFinals dunk! I've been able to accomplish that individually.

"... As we go into the talks and this whole process, which is obviously new for me, I will approach it to get the most out of it I can as an individual, as a player, and something that I've been working for for a very long time". For those guys in the Hamptons recruiting Durant that day and all the others, they can't wait for more.

"It was unbelievable. The energy in this building from the time we stepped foot on the floor was on 12 out of 10". Finals MVP, 4-1, world champions.
