Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus breaks cover

Ingolstadt-based automaker, Audi, has taken the wraps off the convertible version of the R8 V10 Plus.

The Plus has 69bhp and 15lb ft more than the standard R8 Spyder V10, giving it a total of 602bhp and 413b ft.

Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus comes in with an exclusive design package and distinctive micrommata green exterior color along with matching dark colored interiors.

Across the 0-100km/h sprint the new Spyder V10 Plus is finished in just 3.3 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds quicker than the regular Spyder. Do that and the new model is 25kg lighter, serves up 65 extra horsepower, a 6mph top speed improvement and is a whole 0.3 seconds faster off the line. Like the coupe, it churns out 610PS and 560Nm and sends power to all four wheels via a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission and Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive system. The weight savings are achieved by using lightweight materials such as bucket seats, carbon-ceramic brakes and light-alloy forged wheels.

Orders for the R8 Spyder V10 Plus are due to open later this month, with deliveries expected shortly after.

Despite the performance, Audi has worked hard to make the V10 Plus as economical as possible (for times when you can resist the flick of your right foot), with cylinder deactivation shutting down one bank of five cylinders, and a coasting function too.

However, like all supercar makers, Audi now offers a huge range of customization possibilities for those that want something even more individual.

The micrommata green package seen on this auto is optional.

Beyond the convertible roof (which stows electrically at speed of up to 50km/h) the new V10 plus Spyder aligns with the specification of its coupe sister. Most likely, it will - albeit there's no official confirmation on its India launch date as yet.
