$80000 raised online for family of missing Chinese scholar

Surveillance footage showed Zhang getting into the black Saturn Astra hatchback around 2 p.m. on the Friday she vanished, according to campus police.

The FBI has added Zhang to its "Most Wanted" list as a kidnap victim.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that'll help locate a visiting scholar from China who disappeared from the University of IL. She has a brief conversation with the driver before entering the vehicle. They have also reached out to rideshare companies like Uber and Lyft in addition to checking cell phone records, the bulletin says.

Detectives have also probed reports of a similar black vehicle attempting to lure young women into their auto but it's unclear if it's related. Police say they are following leads, but can't discuss particulars about the case.

Zhang's father, aunt and boyfriend travelled from China and are staying in university housing as the search continues.

Zhang is one month into a yearlong program at the university studying photosynthesis and crop productivity, a university spokesperson tells PEOPLE. "This is all we can do, to keep believing".

The day after Zhang's father, Ronggao Zhang, joined FBI, UI and Crime Stoppers officials at a campus news conference, authorities provided no new updates on the case Tuesday.

The FBI is still offering a separate reward of 10-thousand dollars.

"Zhang is described as 5'4", 110 lbs, and was last seen wearing a charcoal-colored baseball hat, pink-and-white top, jeans, and white tennis shoes.
