Youthful Man United side beats Palace 2-0 in last EPL game

Isn't this team going to play a European final next Wednesday?

With the Europa League final against Ajax looming large on Wednesday, United will field an experimental side for Sunday's Premier League dead rubber.

Ajax started the season in the Champions League qualification rounds before a two-legged defeat to Russian side Rostov meant they dropped into the Europa League group stages, where United's campaign also started. Joel Pereira, Demi Mitchell, Matty Willock, Josh Harrop, Zak Dearnley and 16-year-old Angel Gomes are all expected to feature.

"I have not really thought about it either". "Over the moon! "All my family were here, my friends - I'm delighted they could share the moment with me".

"It's the only positive thing".

"I got hugely criticised for it and Crystal Palace got up there and then fell away and that continued into the next season".

"We were there past year and had as many games as they have now".

"But I think the best debut for a young player is in the middle of an experienced structure, where he can be supported".

"I've dreamed about it so many times so, for it to come true today, I'm delighted", he enthused.

Confident displays from Wilfried Zaha, Andros Townsend and Christian Benteke proved a particular strength that the manager will hope can improve further, but despite the foundations he has given them he is wary of increasing expectations.

"They're my manager and the United directors in my time were always very supportive of me". For Palace, Yohan Cabaye and Andros Townsend are both doubts for the game, whilst James Tonkins is likely to be available for the match.

Allardyce will resist the temptation to also rest his players, saying: "I won't be trying players for the sake of it". Anybody with knocks or problems, I will not play. Andros is definitely out already.

O'Hara, born in Manchester with Irish grandparents, joined United aged eight and progressed through the ranks before gaining experience on a number of loan deals in recent years.
