Watch the trailer for Fox's X-Men spin-off series 'The Gifted'

Fox released trailers for their new shows for the 2017-2018 season after their upfront presentation in NY, including comedy "Ghosted" and the new Seth MacFarlane series "The Orville". Chances are The Gifted will be more like Legion in that it's in the X-Men universe but not really that attached to any known continuity.

Fox has shared its schedule for the fall, with the network introducing six new shows. How much are you willing to bet that we may see a surprise cameo from the likes of Cyclops or Storm sometime in the near future? It's created many X-Men films, such as X-Men: Days of Future Past and Logan.

Matt Nix (Burn Notice) penned the series which is being directed by X-Men franchise leader Bryan Singer. I wouldn't be surprised if the main blonde teen girl (Natalie Alyn Lind's Lauren Strucker) turned out to be a cheerleader. That being said, Blink makes her return to the universe.

"The Gifted", which is debuting on Fox in the U.S. later this year, follows a family on the run from the government after discovering that their children have mutant powers.

The series follows suburban couple Reed and Caitlin Strucker (Moyer and "Angel"/'Person of Interest' star Amy Acker) whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers.

As seen in the above trailer, the series focuses on a group of mutants who seemingly have to escape a world that doesn't want to understand them. One mutant, Eclipse mentions that nobody is sure if the X-Men or Brotherhood even exist anymore. The comedy is executive produced by Robinson, Scott, Naomi Scott, Kevin Etten, Tom Gormican, Jonathan Krisel, Oly Obst, and Mark Schulman, with Gormican and Etten writing and Krisel directing.
