He said at least one child was among the injured.

Much of the damage is at the Prairie Lake Estate Mobile Home Park in Cameron. The tornado swept into the mobile home park in w.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said Eric Gavin, 45, a resident of the trailer park, was killed and his family had been notified. Two people, initially reported missing, had driven themselves to a nearby hospital.

"You can just see where the path went through", Fitzgerald said Wednesday.

Fitzgerald said local and state officials are calling it a tornado, but that hasn't been confirmed by the National Weather Service, he said.

Authorities say at least 40 homes were destroyed. According to the Wisconsin Emergency Operations Center, one person at the park died. All other park residents had been accounted for as of 11:35 p.m. Tuesday.

The declaration covers Barron, Rusk, and Jackson counties.

Several tornado warnings were issued as severe thunderstorms moved east across western Wisconsin.

Numerous homes at the Prairie Lakes Estates trailer park were destroyed.

In Elk City, Oklahoma, several homes sustained damage. "It's all destroyed", he also said.

Chetek is about 110 miles (177 kilometers) northeast of Minneapolis/St. Paul, and about 40 miles (64 kilometers) north of Eau Claire. Some people were trapped in their trailers.

Fox 9 reported that, according to "a public safety source", all of the firefighters and ambulances in Barron County were called to the trailer park to try to rescue as many survivors of the tornado as possible.

Chetek Mayor Jeff Martin said he couldn't believe what the storm left behind. We've carried babies out.

"We got a huge community here that is starting to help each other", he said. The power and gas have been shut off as a precaution. The Red Cross is there to assist.

In all, more than two dozen tornado sightings were reported to the National Weather Service Tuesday night across the five states of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and Wisconsin.

Heavy rains also impacted parts of west central and northwestern Wisconsin where some areas have received more than 5 inches of rain causing damage to roads and other infrastructure. In an odd sight, hundreds of turkeys sat quietly on the base of their old barns, with no walls remaining around them. Sheriff Fitzgerald said emergency crews are doing a second search of the buildings right now.
