Saoirse Ronan gives Ed Sheeran a tattoo in his new music video

Directed by Jason Koenig, the video was filmed in Galway and Dublin in Ireland last month and stars Saoirse Ronan - who you may recognise from Atonement and Brooklyn.

Sheeran posted a link to the "Galway Girl" music video on Twitter and wrote, "Here's the Galway Girl video, shot by me, thanks to everyone who featured in it!"

The video which was published online this morning and has already been viewed nearly half a million times.

Following his show, Sheeran meets up with his love interest at a bar on Grafton Street. Yes, that one. Ronan's reaction when Sheeran realizes she's tricked him into tattooing "Galway Grill" instead of "Galway Girl" on his right arm is priceless.

The track was immediately divisive on its release earlier this year, with Ed Sheeran piling cliche upon cliche of Irish night-life. "G-r-i-l-l. I thought I'd tell you that".

The video sees Saoirse and Ed dance from bar to bar before the singer gets punched in the face.

"Galway Girl" appears on Sheeran's new album, ÷ (Divide), which arrived in March.
