NFL Draft 2017 Round 1: Houston Texans Select QB Deshaun Watson

April 28, 2017; Houston, TX, USA; Houston Texans first round draft pick Deshaun Watson poses with a jersey during a press conference at NRG Stadium.

The move up only cost Houston this year's No. 25 and their 2018 first-round pick.

In the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night, the Houston Texans selected Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Experts were uncertain where Watson, a two-time Davey O'Brien Award victor, would land in the draft. Now I'm finally being introduced into the National Football League.

Watson threw for 4,104 yards with 35 touchdowns and 13 interceptions as a sophomore and then tossed for 4,593 yards with 41 scores and 17 interceptions previous year.

The only quarterbacks on the roster were Tom Savage and Brandon Weeden.

Houston is a flawless spot for Watson, as the man who just dispatched Alabama in the national championship game will have an immediate shot at nabbing the starting quarterback position. "I tell myself not to cry but can't hold it back".

Watson also had a great time with the Houston coaching staff and that solidified Watson has the Texans' top target.

As a starter, Watson lost three games in his entire career while throwing for over 10,000 yards with a completion percentage slightly above 67%.

This whole draft has got to be the weirdest one I've seen maybe ever. He also cuts against the mold of the likes of Brock Osweiler and Tom Savage in the sense that he can actually throw a football at the NFL level. And I think that says a lot about a quarterback.

The Texans had the first pick in the draft. Hopkins was asked about the possibility of Watson joining the Texans a couple of weeks ago. When he finally won the job past year, he got injured just before the playoffs, giving up his job to former starter Brock Osweiler. With the 243rd overall pick, the Texans selected Baylor center Kyle Fuller in the seventh round.
