Memorial Day weekend weather in NYC will be mostly rainy, forecasters say

The western states however, will sit under a dome of high pressure with dry sunny weather conditions overall.

Low temperatures in a smaller range of upper 50s to lower 60s.

Temperatures both days will reach the mid- to upper 60s along the coastline and into the lower 70s inland.

Saturday, Partly sunny skies, with a high near 77. Northeast wind 5 to 7 miles per hour becoming west in the evening. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 55. High temperatures should stay comfortable in the upper 70s to low 80s. Northwest wind 7 to 9 miles per hour.

"Low pressure will deepen south of the our area today, and track right over are tonight", forecasters say. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 74. Saturday will likely feature more clouds than sun and should be dry (some models indicate a chance for some rain at night). Ahead of that system, we could see sufficient conditions to kick off some scattered thunderstorms on Saturday; the NWS is now forecasting a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms during the day on Saturday, increasing to 50 percent Saturday night.

Across the Country: More showers are expected from the Great Lakes and the Ohio River Valley across the Appalachians into the lower Mississippi River Valley and Texas. A 20% chance of an afternoon shower thunderstorm.

Sunday, May 28 - Sunny, with a high near 84. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.


We have highs in 70s for most of the week ahead.

Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. Thunderstorm chances will remain high through Monday.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 73.

Memorial Day. The day will start off wet as the overnight rain clears out around mid-morning. High near 59. East wind 8 to 10 miles per hour. Southwest wind 7 to 9 miles per hour. West wind 8 to 10 miles per hour. The Storm Prediction Center has the entire WPXI-TV viewing area in a general risk for storms, but no widespread severe weather is expected at this time.

Monday Night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 9pm.

Friday: A slight chance of showers. Temperatures will climb into the mid 60s.
