Chelsea has one hand on Premier League trophy after latest win

The Italian said this after his side's comfortable 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge on Monday, which moved within touching distance of glory.

Chelsea have now extended their lead at the Premier League's summit to seven points - meaning a victory over West Bromwich Albion on Friday will win them the 2016/17 title.

As they did in the early Mourinho days, Chelsea now seem nearly unbeatable at times and their ruthless efficiency under Conte has the west London club dreaming of not only glory in the PL but more success back in the UEFA Champions League next season. We need to gain more points. The Brazilian-born Spanish striker has 20 goals and 6 assists in 33 league appearances.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona player recently went second in the all-time Premier League assist charts, passing Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard, but was informed in a post-match interview that one of his assists did not count.

Wenger's teams have been renowned for playing possession-based games, but Chelsea are sixth in that statistic this season with 54.2 per cent.

"We've lost the last couple at home without scoring a goal".

Fabregas' improved displays have followed the same trajectory as Chelsea's, Conte says. "It's great for me, great for the players and for the club".

"I know we're not there yet, but we're very close and it will be very enjoyable after previous year". Now we have been very good to find the right way and have a fantastic season. The Hawthorns have proven tricky hunting grounds in recent years, last year's 3-2 win ended a futile run of one draw and three defeats.

"We knew what we had to do, it was a tough game with the pressure - positive pressure - but winning a title is not easy", Fabregas added.

Matic scored the third goal in the match, and this was also a special moment for him.

"We have to gain more points to finish strongly, then everything moving forward will be aimed at getting back into the Premier League as soon as possible". "Of course we are happy we are so close but we have to stay concentrated to the end". Next it's West Brom and we have to try to win the league on Friday.

"It's very important for us to go step by step".
