At last, Buhari appears in public

JUMA'AT President Muhammadu Buhari in the mosque exchanging greeting during the Juma'at prayers.

President Muhammadu Buhari is again absent from a meeting of the Federal Executive Council which is ongoing at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

No official reason has been given for Buhari's absence as of the time of filing this report. Until Friday, he had not been seen in public for two weeks.

Mr. Buhari was also absent during FEC meeting last week.

A statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, in Abuja had however assured Nigerians that there was nothing to be apprehensive about concerning the president's ill health.

In addition, Concerned Nigerians said, the haziness around the President's health is stoking ethnic and religious tensions.

President Buhari returned home in March after spending seven weeks on sick leave in the United Kingdom for an undisclosed ailment.

Prof. Mike Ogirima, the NMA President, who gave the stated this in an interview he granted a PUNCH correspondents, said Buhari's disclosure of his health status would douse tension and rumours about his well-being.

"And if the doctors say he should take a rest, because they think he'll recover faster, then he ought to rest rather than forcing himself to work when he is not fit to work".

Earlier this week, the president missed his third cabinet meeting in a row, stoking further debate about his condition.

Many Nigerians now fear that the cabal around Mr. Buhari could plunge Nigeria into crisis by making questionable decisions in the name of a president who may not even be consulted on the decisions.
