Arsenal legend accuses Ozil and Alexis of 'downing tools'

He is the in-form man for the Gunners but it remains to be seen if Alexis Sanchez will be wearing the red jersey of Arsenal next season.

The Chile worldwide was quoted in the Daily Mirror after he was questioned over whether he agreed with growing Arsenal supporter unrest, over Wenger's position at the Emirates, as the latter continues to play cat and mouse over his decision to pen a two-year contract extension or not.

Wenger continues to be hounded by the "Wenger Out" brigade who have held numerous protests in recent months.

Arsenal's below-par attendance on Tuesday night was not a verdict on Arsene Wenger's future, according to Nigel Winterburn.

Arsenal need to beat Everton in their final game on Sunday and hope Liverpool fail to beat Middlesbrough or Manchester City lose heavily at Watford in order to finish in the top four of the Premier League.

While the Frenchman has weathered the storm of seven defeats in 12 with four successive wins to give Arsenal a chance, there is still a palpable discord between manager and fans. "He is the creator of the stadium, the players and style of the club", he added.

The Gunners have not yet discussed a new deal with Sanchez, postponing talks until the end of the season, but are expected to offer him a contract which would make him the highest-paid player in the club's history when negotiations do begin.

The game against Sunderland was his 25th Premier League appearances for Arsenal and he has scored three goals in the process.

Sanchez has expressed his displeasure at seeing Arsenal supporters protest against Wenger because of what he has achieved at the north London club, saying the demonstrations have been "bad" to witness.

"I know people get the hump with Ozil and he is not a runner-arounder, but the lad can play and he is a lot better than what they have got. Once the season is over we shall see what they want". I think if we buy the right players in the summer then it is completely possible.
