YouTube"s Live TV Service Launches in a Handful of Markets"

Networks, including AMC, BBC America, IFC and Sundance TV, will also join the service soon.

YouTube, one of the most popular websites in the world, has now joined the crowded field of streaming with its YouTube TV service.

To entice new users, YouTube is offering a free trial for 30 days and will give new members a Google Chromecast after they make their first month's payment.

YouTube TV initially offers about 40 channels to subscribers in five of the largest US markets.

On the YouTube TV Home screen, you will find recommendations of shows, movies, etc. based on your watch history on both YouTube TV and YouTube. Getting networks on board is a challenge everyone in the online streaming space will face, and if YouTube can't secure the big networks, it won't matter how much name recognition it has.

One feature YouTube heavily touts is its DVR service, offering to record as many shows as you can click on, with no storage limits or expiration dates.

The roll out of YouTube TV comes after more than 250 brands pulled their ads from Google due to a Wall Street Journal report claiming commercials were being aired before "extremist" content.

The bundle includes shows from the major networks, as well as Bravo, FX, ESPN and Fox Sports. More individual cities are planned before a nationwide rollout later this year.

YouTube TV is available through Android and iOS mobile devices and computers, and users can also cast the service to their TVs via a Google Chromecast or Chromecast built-in TV.

The service will set you back $35 a month, which YouTube said is less than half the average cost of cable, but on par with rival services like Sling TV, which starts at $20/month. However, each membership only allows three simultaneous livestreams, so only three people can watch live TV at once using one account. Access to Showtime and Fox Soccer Plus can also be attained for an additional monthly charge.

YouTube TV allows members to stream live shows on their phone, tablet, computer, Google Chromecast, or Chromecast built-in TV for just $35 Dollars a month.
