Watch the first trailer for 'Thor: Ragnarok'

"Well, it's a long story", Hemsworth says over a scene where Asgardian goddess of death, Hela (Cate Blanchett), destroys Thor's hammer.

Others include Cate Blanchett as new villain Hela, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge and Sam Neill. To stop the impending end of Asgard, Thor must win the dual against a known face - Hulk. Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok thunders into USA theaters on November 3, 2017.

I'm not normally one for hype, but everything about this trailer has me giddy for Thor: Ragnarok, the pace, the setting, the humour, the character design and even the soundtrack are all ideal.

Thor immediately lights up and yells, "Yes!" before turning to the crowd and shouting, "We know each other!"

The trailer seems to continue much of the humour from director Taika Waititi's series of "Team Thor" shorts, including that priceless final line of the teaser.

Thor: Ragnarok additionally stars Tom Hiddleston, Jeff Goldblum, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins and Benedict Cumberbatch and hits cinemas on November 3rd. Described as a "tough, hard drinking warrior" who has been hiding out, she takes Thor to the Grandmaster, so that he can participate in a few gladiatorial games.

Thor makes a very welcome return to our screens after he was absent during the events of Captain America: Civil War.

At some point during the film, Thor gets himself into a pretty sticky situation because we see him lost in space and struggling in chains without his universe and without his trusty hammer.

The trailer for Thor: Ragnarok showed the film is going to pay tribute to Kirby by bringing the legendary artist's definitive art style to life in a way that no Marvel Studios production has done so far.

The third installment of the Asgardian franchise follows the second Avengers movie.
