North Korea says Syria airstrikes prove its nukes justified

North Korea says Syria airstrikes prove its nukes justified

Detailed by Tillerson on Sunday, US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping met at Trump's Florida resort last week to discuss, among other topics, ongoing tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

The US said United States-China Comprehensive Dialogue will be overseen by the two presidents and have four pillars: the Diplomatic and Security Dialogue; the Comprehensive Economic Dialogue; the Law Enforcement and Cybersecurity Dialogue; and the Social and Cultural Issues Dialogue. "These sanctions are very important and we will use them to the maximum effect". The two sides also agreed to a "100-day plan" aimed at reducing the US trade deficit with China.

"President Xi clearly understands", Tillerson clarified, "and I think agrees, that the situation has intensified and has reached a certain level of threat that action has to be taken", according to The Guardian.

The sudden flurry of action centering on North Korea comes on the heels of Trump's summit in Florida on Friday with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Sources briefed on Xi's plans promised a package of Chinese investments aimed at creating more than 700,000 American jobs - the same number China's regional rival Japan pledged to Trump during Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's Mar-a-Lago visit in February.

Tillerson told reporters that "both the atmosphere [and] the chemistry between the two leaders was positive", at Mar-a-Lago.

Trump spoke publicly of progress on a range of issues in his first U.S. For China, whose foreign policy bureaucracy continues to wrangle with the overall direction of Trump's foreign policy amid mixed signals, factoring these tendencies in USA decision-making on the North Korean problem and the South China Sea will be a necessity.

Despite his hardline rhetoric against Beijing during the presidential campaign, Trump described his relationship with Xi as "outstanding" right after the meeting, saying "tremendous progress" had been made in Washington's relationship with Beijing.

"We had long and in-depth communication", Xi said through a translator.

"I believe we will keep developing in a stable way to form friendly relations". No date was set for the trip.

China says that its leverage in North Korea is limited, and that Kim's regime is pursuing nuclear weapons to deter threats of a United States invasion.

Pyongyang has repeatedly warned that it aims to test an intercontinental ballistic missile or conduct another underground nuclear test. Analysts say one could come as soon as April 15, the 105th birthday of North Korea's founding president and celebrated annually as the Day of the Sun. "It is significant that comprehensive and inclusive discussions took place putting considerable weight on the agenda on our key interests, the North Korea nuclear issue and the Korea-U.S. alliance issues".

North Korea on Sunday condemned the U.S. bombing in Syria as an "absolutely unacceptable aggression" against a sovereign state and said this justifies Pyongyang's further military development.

Mr Tillerson said on Friday the U.S. may take its own measure in dealing with Pyongyang.

China's position on Syria is much closer to Russia's than to the US.

Instead, it was interrupted by the unexpected missile attack. The US, Germany and France have stated they believe the attack to have been carried out by the Syrian government.

The official China Daily newspaper said it was encouraging to see the two-day summit that ended on Friday "going as well as it could" after earlier "confusing signals" from Washington about how it was approaching the U.S.

Regarding the U.S. airstrike on Syria, Tillerson said that Xi told Trump that he "understood that such a response was necessary when people are killing children", reported CNN.
