Gorillaz to kick off tour at Northerly Island

The tour will feature prominent performances with appearances at music festivals such as Outside Lands in San Francisco, Meadows in New York, Life is handsome in Las Vegas, and III Points in Miami.

Gorillaz, the alt-rock supergroup consisting of animated characters voiced by blood-and-flesh musicians, is the first band to be announced for this year's Life is attractive festival, which will take place September 22-24 in downtown Las Vegas.

The tour announcement arrives three weeks after Gorillaz debuted four songs from its forthcoming fifth album, "Humanz", due out April 28, including "Saturnz Barz", a dreamy trap excursion featuring verses from Jamaican dancehall DJ Popcaan.

Gorillaz have just announced a slew of live concerts spanning across North America this summer.

7/8 - Chicago, IL, Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island +.

A full lineup announcement is expected in May, but tickets for III Points go on sale online this Friday.

Since 2000, Damon Albarn of Blur fame and illustrator Jamie Hewlett, best known for co-creating the comic book Tank Girl, have been shaping their own alternative rock/hip-hop/what-have-you act with Gorillaz.

July 10 - Toronto ON - Air Canada Centre +.

The 17-date multi-media tour will feature Albarn onstage along with real-life musicians and virtual Gorillaz Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, Russel Hobbs and 2D.

July 12 - Boston MA - Blue Hills Bank Pavilion +.

Everyone's favorite animated band is coming to Red Rocks.

July 17 - Washington DC - Merriweather Post Pavilion +.
