He then challenged her to the riff-off.

"They don't make 'em like that anymore, do they?'" he said.

Unfortunately for Corden, Demi Lovato was one of the guests on the show and she did not take kindly to his statement.

To bring the house down, Lovato sang her own hit, "Heart Attack", which prompted Corden to declare her the victor.

The Late Late Show diva riff-off was backed by a cappella group Level. "If you think divas back then were better and I think divas today are better, why don't we just settle this tonight?" she asked him.

"I've got hits from before you were born", he told Lovato. "Maybe there's a world where divas then and divas now are both great?"

Corden, for his part, covered Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin, but his standout moment was during his banter with Lovato.

"You know what you need, little lady?" Fortunately, Lovato sang Adele and Katy Perry to prove her point that our beloved circa 2017 divas are legit, and completely slayed while she was at it.

Confident she'd won the battle, and in true diva fashion, she dropped the mic and then forced Corden to pick it up for her.
