Woman Loitering at Mets Stadium Claims to Be Tebow's Girlfriend

Michelle Marie Thompson, 36, was arrested after hanging around the New York Mets' complex in Port St. Lucie, Fla., hours after their February 26 game against the Detroit Tigers.

28 and charged with trespassing after she repeatedly hung around the New York Mets spring training complex. The woman reportedly asked questions about Tebow, who arrived that day for camp. When asked why she wanted to see him, Thompson said she and Tebow were in a relationship. After the police officer asked whether Thompson was in a "friendly relationship, a platonic relationship, a romantic relationship or possibly a matrimonial relationship?" She then provided Tebow's address in Jacksonville and said she lived with the quarterback-turned-outfielder, cops said.

Tebow played in his first spring training game with the New York Mets on Wednesday, and the only way it could have gone worse would have been if ... he died? The officer noted a sticker affixed to the back of the license that read, "I [heart symbol] Jesus/Tim Tebow".

The woman was told to leave the property and was urged to leave Port St. Lucie altogether. Thompson responded, "All of the above", according to police. She was transported to St. Lucie County Jail following the arrest and remains incarcerated, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office website. The former Heisman Trophy victor from the University of Florida also was picked off first base after being hit by a pitch in that game. He was quickly waved back to the Mets' side of the field.

Tebow was set to lead off the third inning for his first at-bat.

The 29-year-old, who announced his desire to play baseball last summer, signed a minor-league deal with the Mets in September.
