Sugar Ray Leonard Favors Keith Thurman Over Danny Garcia In Title Fight

Keith Thurman vs. Danny Garcia is a welterweight world title showdown between undefeated 147-pound titlists.

This Saturday night WBC title holder Danny Garcia 33-0 (19) will meet WBA title holder Keith Thurman 27-0 (22) in just the 10th unification bout in the history of the division at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. He has the pedigree and after starting his career at light middleweight, he entered the welterweight division at the Barclay's Center back in 2013. I'm tough mentally and I'm going to control the fight. Thurman is the favorite to beat Garcia, and he has the opportunity to to prove himself. Both guys are great champs and both of them could take punches. "If it goes to the scorecards, it'll favor me". And an even bigger fight for the victor would be a bout in which he defended his WBC/WBA titles against the fighter many believe to be the best pound-for-pound in boxing, and that's WBC/WBO junior welterweight champ Terence Crawford 30-0 (21), who many believe willl soon be looking to add some welterweight hardware to his jewelry box. Then there was Oscar De La Hoya vs. Felix Trinidad in 1999, and lastly in 2015 we had Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao.

"Garcia vs. Thurman is a battle of undefeated champions", Dinkins says. He'll now do so for the first time at 147 pounds against Thurman in a bout that has been hyped since moments after his one-sided victory over Vargas last November. Shawn Porter watched as he waited to make his forthcoming welter clash against Andre Berto official.

Said Garcia: "I've been the underdog before". I have more milestones than Thurman. It's not about if a KO happens, it's about when the knockout will come for David Haye. I always want to be a top fighter.

Bolton's Khan waits in the wings for the victor and will be ringside at the Barclays Center in NY. Of course, Thurman and Garcia want the stoppage to avoid any controversy because a fight of this magnitude does not need controversy that always seems to ruin a good fight that goes the distance.

There's a lot of pressure on me to be the best.

"I had been in camp for so long training for Peterson and it was frustrating having to start a whole new camp again so soon after". "I would have fought him right there if they put the gloves on".

Thurman probably lives up to everything that people say. After securing the WBC welterweight title against Robert Guerrero previous year, the stage was set for the two top welterweights to finally meet. They'd have to take on the Spence v Brook victor, and then we can get closer to clarity. "If it's a chess match, it will be a high-level, fast-paced chess match". That should equate to Thurman throwing the heavier punches, which could deliver the more telling damage in later rounds.

Thurman took the WBA title from Guerrero two years ago and makes his third defense. In that bout, "Swift" Garcia endured a mouthpiece-ejecting right to the jaw in the 10th round but came back to floor Matthysse in the 11th.

Fight fans should expect to see Keith Thurman use his superior footwork to successfully move in and out of range while using feints, subtle pivots and lateral movements to deliberately throw off the timing and rhythm of the ostensibly lead footed Garcia, while landing the harder and seemingly more impactful shots.

"Garcia does go into fights as the underdog and finds a way to win".
