Samsung Galaxy S8 leak reveals awesome colour options and more

Considering the fact that much of Samsung's unit volumes have always included low-end phones while Apple only participates in the premium segment, that was quite an accomplishment.

Apple patrons have a reason to rejoice now, with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus becoming the best selling smartphones of 2016.

For Q4 alone, the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus took the top 2 spots as Q4:16 best-sellers. One of the more interesting takeaways from the report is that iPhone 6s shipments a year ago even outpaced the cumulative shipment tally from Samsung's flagship Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

Dutch blog AndroidWorld cites trustworthy sources that claim Samsung Galaxy S8 should be up for pre-order the same day it gets revealed, March 29.

Furthermore, as the chart below illustrates, various Samsung smartphone models accounted for 5 of the 10 most-shipped smartphones in 2016.

Apple's big 2016 iPhone 7 wasn't the year's most popular smartphone, according to new report. Pundits were expecting the device to release in a color similar to the Blue Coral option featured on the Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy Note 7.

Lastly, Gigglehd, a Chinese website which has leaked images of the revamped earbuds that will accompany the Samsung Galaxy S8 inside the box.

Huawei which has been growing rapidly and is now the third biggest smartphone player, had no phones in the top 10 most-shipped.

Registering 109% year-to-year growth, China's OPPO rose up the ranks of the world's leading smartphone OEMs, rising to fourth place, up from seventh in 2015.
