Rocket and Groot star in their own series of animated shorts

The good news is that a 12-episode series of Rocket and Groot short films, set before the two titular characters join the Guardians, will start rolling out on the Disney XD app, one per day, from March 27. Check out the first episode of Marvel's Rocket & Groot, entitled "Dream Machine", here... Their adventure begins when their ship starts having some mechanical trouble, leaving them to look for spare parts on a junkyard. Beyond that, I also love the character designs.

The story finds Rocket and Groot trying to figure out how to get enough credits to buy a new ship after their old one breaks down. It's a shame that this kind of style can't be employed for Disney XD's full fledged series, but I'm sure it's more expensive than the animation they've chosen to use.

2 director James Gunn recently revealed that he originally planned to keep Groot fully blown in the follow up to Guardians Of The Galaxy, but it didn't fit with the plot.

Rocket is voiced by Trevor Devall (Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Johnny Test) and Groot is voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson (Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, The Cleveland Show).
