Rock and Roll legend Chuck Berry dies at 90

Rock and Roll legend Chuck Berry dies at 90

Springsteen tweeted: "Chuck Berry was rock's greatest practitioner, guitarist, and the greatest pure rock "n" roll writer who ever lived".

St. Charles County police responded to a medical emergency on Buckner Road at approximately 12:40 p.m. today (Saturday, March 18).

Here's a photographic look at his legacy. There's so much cleverness and subtlety in Johnny B Goode, one of the first Rock N Roll songs to deal with Rock N Roll and the issue of fame within the genre directly. He was 82 years old.

Even Berry's mishaps seemed influential.

Rock legend Rod Stewart stated that Chuck Berry was a cornerstone in Rock and Roll, as his "Live at the Tivoli" was the first album he ever bought.

Berry made rock and roll fun, but there were subtle hints of something more than teenage rebellion.

"Not just because he was one of its greatest songwriters and established some of the electric guitar's earliest and most memorable riffs, but also because he was one of music's most palpably exciting entertainers and biggest personalities", academy president Neil Portnow said in a statement.

In 1948, when he was still working as a janitor, Berry married Themetta "Toddy" Suggs, his partner for life with whom he had four children. I've worked on this record for a long time. "Rock on forever. #RIP Chuck Berry".

Known for chart-toppers such as "Johnny B Goode", "Roll Over Beethoven" and "Brown Eyed Handsome Man", Berry's career rocketed in the 1950s after signing a record deal with Chess Records at the behest of musician Muddy Waters, according to Rolling Stone.

His first breakthrough came in 1955, a rewrite of a 1938 country song by Bob Wills renamed "Maybellene".

It is no wonder that this legend has fans in our very own Bollywood too, who took to social media to share their thoughts and feelings about the musician.

"If you tried to give rock "n" roll another name", John Lennon once said, "you might call it "Chuck Berry".

In a way it doesn't matter what is played on the jukebox, somewhere up in the family tree of every rock "n" roll song you're liable to run into Chuck Berry.

Berry played at Blueberry Hill hundreds of times.

No release date was announced and a rep for Berry and Berry's record label did not return Fox News' request for comment.
