Prince William, Kate in Paris to cement diplomatic links

The two-day visit does not include official memorial events for Princess Diana, who was killed in a auto crash in the city in 1997.

Kate Middleton was greeted by a giant Irish Wolfhound on Friday for the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in London.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge landed in Paris on Friday for a two-day stay.

"This visit opens a new chapter of this long Franco-British relationship turning towards a promising future", British Ambassador Edward Llewellyn was quoted as saying by local media.

They will later watch the Six Nations rugby match between France and Wales and visit the Musee d'Orsay.

In a report from Vanity Fair, a source allegedly said that Princess Kate was "understandably less than pleased" at how her husband behaved that night. The Commonwealth Day event was attended by the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, and Prince Harry.

Prince William has assured the French people that the "deep friendship" between Britain and France will continue despite the Brexit vote.

"We think you are very strong and very courageous, you've made incredible progress", the Duke of Cambridge said, according to the Daily Express. But as the couple raised their pints of Guiness to toast the day, William was said to look pensive and self-conscious next to his wife, clad all in green, the Daily Mail reported.

During the meeting on Friday afternoon with President Francois Hollande at the Elysee Palace, Kate Middleton wore a lovely long coat of green, by Catherine Walker and co.

The prince, sticking to the protocol that British royals are not supposed to get involved in politics, replied with a smile: "I can't answer that question, but good try".

William definitely has some making up to do in the royal obligations department, Vanity Fair said.
