O2 reveals VR England Rugby game

O2 reveals VR England Rugby game

The match is not a formal part of the £225m agreement with the RFU.

'We've got a very important series against the British and Irish Lions and that's a primary focus for us.

In a quirk of the global schedule, the game's top two teams are not due to meet until late next year, but Press Association Sport understands that with the support of Jones the All Blacks have been sounded out over an additional meeting.

In October previous year the All Blacks broke the world record for the most test match wins in a row by any country.

England would have to pay New Zealand a match fee due to the fact that the fixture would fall outside of the recognised Test window for the 2017 autumn internationals, while player welfare would also come into question given that World Rugby are now looking into the prospect of changing the season programme to cut down on the number of games players are having to turn out for, with a new global rugby calendar being discussed.

A number of options were on the table for the November 4 Test, with Frances, Wales and Scotland already lined up for the subsequent three weeks.

Victory over Ireland would see the champions defend the grand slam and surpass the All Blacks' record of 18 straight Test wins, setting the scene for a mouth-watering collision against Steve Hansen's men.

NZR boss Steve Tew was coy in the report, saying: "It's highly unlikely at this stage".

"We are scheduled to play New Zealand in 2018 and if an opportunity came up to play them before then we would pursue it", an RFU spokesman confirmed on Wednesday. I think the thing that made it hard was perhaps we didn't play as well as we could as a team.

However the World Cup-winning coach was later forced to go on the defensive when Jones compared him to the Big Bad Wolf.

"We really enjoyed working in partnership with O2 to develop this unique virtual reality experience", England defence coach Paul Gustard said.

England and New Zealand have not met since 2014, when they played four times, but the clamour for the dominant forces in the northern and southern hemispheres to clash is growing. He said: 'People are desperate for England and the All Blacks to play.

"Yeah it would be awesome to play them.if it could work out it would be great".
