Matthew Perry Once Beat Up Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

Matthew Perry Once Beat Up Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

On Wednesday night, Ivanka Trump accompanied Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau to the Broadway musical "Come From Away".

Trudeau's father was the prime minister of Canada at the time, Perry noted.

Perry, 47, is two years older Trudeau, who turned 45 on December 25, but they apparently went to the same elementary school. In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the former F.R.I.E.N.D.S star revealed that he and a classmate ganged up to beat up the fellow Canadian - out of pure jealousy.

The actor knows that what he did was totally wrong: "I'm not bragging about this awful thing-I was a stupid kid". "This was bad. I was a stupid kid", Perry said. "This is awful and I was a stupid kid".

Check out the full segment above. Wednesday, and he told the story of how he and his buddy beat up a 3rd grade Justin for "excelling in a sport".

Justin Trudeau, right, turned out fine, despite being bullied by Matthew Perry in grade school. "I was a stupid kid".

While Perry admits he's not proud of his youthful indiscretion, he did joke that he believes it was instrumental in Trudeau's political career.

Mr Trudeau and Ms Trump had met previously when she helped host a summit on women business leaders and entrepreneurs when the Canadian prime minister visited Washington earlier this year. The actor, known as Chandler Bing on "Friends", admitted he once beat up the prime minister.

Perry, whose mother was press secretary to P.E.T., did suggest that the incident might have been the turning point in young Justin's life where he chose to become prime minister of Canada. "In fact, I think at one point I tried to turn it into love play".

Trudeau's office said they had no comment on Perry's claim.
