Longtime Packers guard Lang heads to division rival Lions

Lang's dollar value will likely be in the realm of $10 million per season. As a rock-steadky starter for the Green Bay Packers over the last six of his eight years in the National Football League, he's helped make some of Lions fans' most painful moments possible. Lang is from Royal Oak, Mich., and went to college at Eastern Michigan.

Lang made a name for himself through his toughness during 8 seasons in Green Bay. The free-agent market has been thinned out and offensive line is not considered a deep position in this year's draft.

For all we obsess over marginally improving all the areas the Lions were weak in 2016, at the beginning of March I wrote the Lions' biggest need is simply to get and keep Matthew Stafford healthy.

Over the past two years, the right guard has only given up 2.5 sacks, allowing quarterback Aaron Rodgers to move around in the pocket and continue his dominance as one of the NFL's top quarterbacks.

Lang owned Scott Mitchell and Charlie Batch jerseys growing up, and thinks it's pretty cool that now his son will be able to wear a T.J. Lang Lions jersey.

Lang's agent confirmed the three-year deal on Sunday. And along with big-ticket right tackle Rick Wagner (who replaced Riley Reiff), gives Detroit a strong side of the line.

"I'll definitely be ready by training camp, no doubt about it".

"I'm ready to get it done with", Lang told WXYZ early Sunday. I know that was a big story the past couple weeks, but it's nothing but a positive.
