'Logan' Opens to Mighty $237.8 Million Globally

The film is the tenth installment in the X-Men series.

Audiences came in droves over the weekend to see Hugh Jackman's final, and most dramatic, performance as Wolverine in "Logan". Also opening is Before I Fall, a Groundhog Day type film set in high school with Zoey Deutch, with a day repeating over and over (that's what I remember high school actually being like).Lionsgate tries to keep its hot hand going with The Shack, a man meets god fable with Octavia Spencer and Sam Worthington. Hugh Jackman is one of the big reasons why the X-Men franchise (I don't count Deadpool) has earned $1.45 billion domestically and $3.6 billion worldwide from eight films. The superhero film Logan was premiered at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival held in Berlin on 17th February 2017. Jackman has played the role over the course of nine films that have popped up over almost two decades.

What should end up being a very busy March at the box office kicked off with 20th Century Fox's latest Marvel mutant movie, as Hugh Jackman played Wolverine for the last time in the James Mangold-directed Logan. Jackman replied, ore or less become synonymous with his entire career.

Reacting to a blog by a fan, Shah Rukh Khan wrote, "Hair on the chest lady…need hair on the chest!"

As the movie business grows more saturated with stories about costumed vigilantes, studios are trying to find ways to differentiate their own comic book adaptations. As I've lived with that idea over the past few days, I thought: "'Yeah, it's absolutely right that we should both of us just move on now.' The franchise won't die [without us]". It would have been easy for Logan to retread the character's greatest hits in another epic superhero battle, or to delight in the newly available levels of gore.

It's easy enough to understand where the Logan filmmaker is coming from, but it seems unusual to make such an effort to move away from the superhero genre when this movie fits so perfectly into it.
