Emma Watson may get USD 15 million for 'Beauty and the Beast'

"'Beauty and the Beast' is the latest example of Disney's perfectly executed strategy of going to their animation vaults, dusting off a classic and reinventing it as a modern live-action movie", said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at comScore. Made for $160 million without counting marketing expenses, the film received an A CinemaScore from audiences.

Beauty and the Beast will be one of Emma Watson's biggest break after Harry Potter franchise, she was popular for playing the role of one of Harry Potter's best friend Hermione Granger in JK Rowling's film adaption of her novels. It topped the previous March opening weekend record of 166 million US dollars set by "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" a year ago and also the seventh largest opening weekend ever. The film has yet to open in France, Australia, and Japan.

Beauty And The Beast, a remake of the 1991 animation, is now on track to open in the United Kingdom with a three-day haul of £18.4 million, making it the highest grossing three-day opening weekend for a PG movie ever. The fairy tale romance earned $44.8 million in China, grossed $22.8 million in the United Kingdom, grabbed $11.9 million in South Korea, nabbed $10.7 million in Germany, and picked up $7.6 million in Italy.

Rediscover the magic of this Disney classic in a live-action musical starring Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as Beast.

As summer blockbuster-type movies keep pushing earlier and earlier into March and April it's only natural that the box office records for those months will also get pushed.
