Browns considering Mitch Trubisky with No. 1 pick

But there are other factors that are factored in there, too, about arm talent, processing and all of the other things we talked about.

The good news for the Browns is the first round of the draft begins 49 days after the league year begins.

This year, the issue Jackson was asked about was height.

Still, the former Tar Heels standout his gaining high praise from executives at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, and one report says the Chicago Bears have Trubisky at the top of their list.

That sounds like something Jackson would like. "And, can a guy process football at the rate you need him to do it?" "I don't think that's what's important. Those are three very fundamental things that I think will show itself from a college quarterback".

How interesting would it be if Trubisky ends up with the Browns?

Of course, this year is not atypical of other years - there's reason for teams to lie about almost everything, and perhaps this is one such case.

Trubisky refuted that he only had one season.

"I'm going to be excited wherever I go", he said. I think that has helped me in my decision-making. I only have 13 starts, but I've played in 30 games. "I understand the interest in that and I've seen all the headlines that have been written, but I wouldn't comment on that".

"I was really prepared well at North Carolina by (my) coach", he said. "And just my abilities, I feel like I'm in a really good spot right now to take my game to the next level, and I feel really confident".

On the limited experience, Jackson wasn't daunted by it. Griffin is due a $750,000 roster bonus on March 11, and on Thursday, Jackson failed to commit to his injury-prone starter, saying only that Griffin is "on our roster" and "we'll work with him, until we don't". The most recent example of such a whiff was when the Browns ended up with the eighth and the 22nd overall selections in 2014. He said he has already met with other teams, among them the Jets, who pick sixth.

The Browns are "strongly considering" drafting Trubisky with the No. 1 pick, according to "So I'm just trying to portray that to them and be myself".

Jackson wants to dig deep to learn what Trubisky knows about X's and O's and National Football League defenses, but he also wants to get an idea of what kind of leader his next quarterback will be. They fit within our building.

Nevertheless, improving the quarterback situation is a priority, Brown said. Brown said the team checked in on occasion with Josh, "just personally because we care for the young man".

"It wasn't good news", one scout told Metro on Trubisky's hand measurement.
