Missing Teen Believed to Be in Extreme Danger

The Gary Police Department is investigating the abduction of Chastinea Reeves from Gary, Indiana. An Indiana State Police announcement did not offer more details about Reeves' condition. It was also unknown whether she was walking, in a vehicle, alone or with another person.

Because the girl is a minor, Westerfield said that her location after being found would not be released.

While there are hundreds of missing children reported in IN, police say only 21 amber alerts were activated in the state over the past ten years. Police said she was not with her parents and did not attend school on Monday. "We need to make sure you're safe".

The Amber Alert was canceled and the investigation is ongoing, authorities said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Kristopher Adams, of the Lake County/Gary Metro Homicide Unit, at 219-755-3855, central dispatch at 219-660-0000 or 911.
