Chance The Rapper and Drake Dominate Grammys Hip Hop Wins

Drake was nominated for eight Grammy Awards including Best Rap Performance for "Pop Style" and Record of the Year for his appearance on Rihanna's "Work".

"Glory be to God". Chance shouted jubilantly on the Grammy stage, after winning best rap album for his May 2016 gospel-infused hip hop mixtape Coloring Book.

Chance the Rapper seemed blind-sided by his triple victory at the 59th annual Grammy Awards over the weekend, especially with it being his first venture into the prestigious ceremony.

His win for Best Rap Performance was announced along with other awards shortly before Sunday's broadcast.

Colouring Book, Chance's mixtape released a year ago, incorporated gospel choir music and lyrically touched on his faith.

Chance thanked his team, before admitting how nervous he was, "Damn!" Streams of the "Coloring Book" song "How Great" - which was performed as part of the aforementioned medley - have soared by 406%. Obviously, you're going to get all that fun, kind of "me, ' fluffy stuff that you love". Thank you everybody for supporting me... And Chance The Rapper made Grammys history with his win. Chance also won in the Best New Artist category, which cemented his reputation as one of the industry's new leading lights.

Chance has been active in the fight against gun violence in Chicago.
