Tesla Unlocks 'Ludicrous Plus' Mode to Troll Faraday Future

Tesla Unlocks 'Ludicrous Plus' Mode to Troll Faraday Future

Tesla's Model S got that 2.4 second speed update via an OTA push that went out just after Faraday's splashy reveal, however, and that's something that's coming to production vehicles - not to a auto that FF admits won't enter production until at least 2018, for a price point yet to be announced.

It unlocks, purely through software, about 35 more horsepower in the 4-door sedan - for now a total output of ~573 kW (780 hp).

To engage Ludicrous+ mode, owners need to go into the settings menu and hold down the blue Ludicrous button for at least five seconds, according to British magazine Auto Express.

Just a week after Faraday Future demonstrated its FF 91 prototype rocketing from 0-60 in 2.4 seconds, Tesla seems to have released a new over-the-air software improvement to Ludicrous Mode. Once done, the system will give a message that will ask "Are you sure you want to push the limits?" They accept the risk by pressing "yes, bring it on!", or go back by hitting "no, I want my Mommy". Musk said that the Easter Egg update would bring the car's 0 to 60 miles per hour acceleration time down from 2.5 seconds to 2.4 seconds.

Brooks Weisblat from Drag Times received the update and unlocked the Easter Egg on his P100D. He claims that Ludicrous Plus is able to push the vehicle up to 60 miles per hour in only 2.34 seconds, but so far, it seems 2.4 seconds is what most people are reporting from tests.

DragTimes was able to get a 0-60 time of 2.465 seconds.

The electric vehicle acceleration wars continue apace.
